Bio
Alex Falk, founder of Atonal Meditation, is a certified sound therapy practitioner, musician, meditation teacher, educator and substance abuse/violence prevention counselor for the New York City Board of Education. Alex skillfully guides participants through sound meditations and mindfulness practices, giving them the tools to access and support states of deep relaxation.
In 2013, Alex began facilitating public Sound Baths and large scale meditation events. His earlier years as an independent Hip-Hop artist and producer have informed his philosophy and influenced his desire to create community, healing and shared experience through the therapeutic benefits of sound and listening. He has offered Sound Baths at museums, music festivals, song writing camps and cultural institutions such as: Lincoln Center, the Rubin Museum, Madison Square Garden, Full Moon Festival, and the Museum of Modern Art.
Alex is dedicated to making Sound Bath’s and meditation accessible to all. In 2015 he began introducing the healing and transformative power of sound to one of NYC's most underserved populations- our public school students. He has since brought mindfulness and mediation programs into public elementary and high schools across the 5 boroughs. He currently works at City-As-School, NYC’s oldest public transfer high school, where he runs a music and arts internship program, teaches mindfulness courses, and offers counseling to help students heal from trauma, explore identity and discover holistic practices to support learning and creativity.
